Is a super-volcano just 390 miles from London about to erupt? — It’s thought that the volcano is similar in size and power to Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines, which blew in 1991 and became the biggest eruption of the 20th century. A sleeping super-volcano in Germany is showing worrying signs of waking up. “…A few days ago people near  Kvaenes, in Nordreisa, Norway was mystified to discover that their beach was covered with tons of dead herring fish… …But now the same people that was wondering how the ton’s of dead fish showed up on their shore is then again faced with another mystery. The fish just mysteriously disappeared. That was a relief for the locals because it would have been a tough job cleaning it up….” XD

Cordova has had a rough winter thus far, and today the Mayor officially declared the excessive snow load an emergency situation following the January 5, 2012 “Snowpocalypse”. This small coastal Alaskan community does not have the resources necessary to keep on top of the massive amount of snow that has fallen since December 17, 2011….and that is continuing to fall.

01.10.12 - Israel preparing for nuclear Iran within a year

Israel is preparing for an Iran with nuclear capabilities within the next 12 months, according to a report by the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), an Israeli think tank.

The INSS was asked to prepare possible scenarios in case Iran carries out nuclear weapons tests by security, intelligence and diplomatic officials, AFP reported the Times as saying. According to INSS predictions, Iranian nuclear weapons tests would change the balance of power in the Middle East region. If Tehran carries out nuclear weapons tests, the U.S. will offer Israel a defense pact, but would urge Israel not to respond with an attack on Iran, according to AFP. The U.S. military says that a new aircraft carrier strike group has arrived in the Arabian Sea. And another is on its way. But the military denied any link to recent tensions with Iran, and called the movements routine.  This military shift comes amid heightened tensions with Iran. The USS Carl Vinson arrived in the Arabian Sea on Monday. It replace the outgoing USS John C. Stennis carrier strike group, which Iran last week warned not to return to the Gulf after its departure late December. The second group, led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, is on track to join the Carl Vinson.
